What’s New
Exciting news! HiFutureSelf is being converted from the old Objective-C codebase to modern Swift! This will take a few weeks to complete. The transition will happen in multiple releases, screen by screen.
HiFutureSelf was written in 2010, it was my first Objective-C app, and now a decade later, it will be my first Swift app
In this update the following screens have been converted:
– Location Selection Screen
Everything should look and work just as before. Please let me know if you run into any issues.
Once this transition is complete, I’ll be adding iCloud integration to have a full backup and sync HFS across your devices.
== HFS works fine… why do this transition? ==
Objective-C will be slowly phased out by Apple. Swift is the future for iOS/Mac apps. The transition is inevitable, and it's more about timing. iCloud integration requires a lot of new code. I would rather just pull the bandaid, rewrite the app, and write that new iCloud code in Swift.
